Examine the tree hole and choose "Read the letter." to read Kin's farewell note to Yui. This starts the quest (bell_ribbon_step 1).

Find Yui and talk to her. She is furious that you read her letter without permission and throws you out of the house, warping you to amatsu 197,83 (bell_ribbon_step 2).

Walk back into the house and talk to her again. She apologises, changes the subject to the new kimono she wants to make, and asks for the materials when you answer "Yes sure." (bell_ribbon_step 3).

One time only: bell_ribbon_step stops at 12 and is never reset. The first talk with Yui force-warps you out to amatsu 197,83, just walk back in and talk again. To advance past the kimono step you must be carrying at least 1x Cat's Eye; it is checked but not deleted, so keep one spare when you buy the 1,000 for the merchant. Black Cat Ears (getequipid slot 1) are only checked on the very first talk with Kin; every later talk ignores them. Script quirk: the Secret Merchant deletes 1,000x Cat's Eye, 150x 3carat Diamond and 20x Gold and says he hands over the red cat's eye, but there is no getitem, so no item ever enters your inventory, the step only advances. No Zeny, class or level requirement anywhere.
