Guardian Wings is one of the longest quests on Avalon — 18 stages that follow an old assassin, his lost wife, and the secret of the Guardian Dragon.

- Gaea, an old assassin in Niflheim, remembers the town as one of the most prosperous places in the world and wonders whether his wife Lilly is still alive somewhere in Lighthalzen. He also guards a secret: a Guardian Dragon once protected the town before it vanished without a trace, and there is still a way for someone to inherit that title.
Walkthrough
Stage 1 — Gaea
Location: niflheim 357,229
Talk to the old assassin and choose to listen to his story. He explains that Niflheim was once prosperous and that his wife may still live in Lighthalzen.
Receive: A hint that his wife lives in Lighthalzen
Stage 2 — Lilly
Location: lighthalzen 303,274
Speak with her, pick "What are you doing?!" and then "Did he live in Niflheim?". She panics at how much you know and calls you a stalker.
Receive: Her name and her reaction to Niflheim
Stage 3 — Gaea
Location: niflheim 357,229
Tell Gaea that you met Lilly and choose "Tell him what happened". He scribbles markings in an old language on your arm as proof.

Stage 4 — Lilly
Location: lighthalzen 303,274
Show her the markings. She recognises the language as Gaea's, but insists she has never heard of Niflheim and asks you to bring him back to her.
Receive: A request to bring Gaea back
Stage 5 — Gaea

Report that Lilly has lost her memory. He decides to jog it and dictates the first list of items to deliver to her.

Stage 6 — Lilly

Bring her the first batch of items. The Angry Snarl bites her, and she confiscates the dangerous things.

Stage 7 — Gaea

Tell him it did not work. He decides her memory is badly rusted and asks for stronger material.

Deliver the second batch. She calls the cards evil-looking pictures and takes them away before anyone gets hurt.

Bring the mementoes of old Niflheim. She finally remembers the town, and leaves at once to reunite with Gaea.

Stage 11 — Gaea

Return to Gaea to be thanked. He shares the secret of the Guardian Dragon and points you to Sara, a strong woman living in Hugel who likes to test people.

Ask Sara about the Guardian Dragon and answer "Yes" twice. She agrees to share the ancient secret only after testing whether you are worthy, and names her price.

Hand over everything she asked for. She passes the good word along and sends you to the storage inside the tool shop of Niflheim.

Stage 14 — Mysterious Man

He now has orders to let you in. Accept the warp and he sends you into the hidden hall where the council waits.

He confirms you came to be tested, but names one last duty before the trial: bringing him proof of your credentials.

Hand over the helm and agree to be tested. You are warped to a sealed arena and have 10 minutes to defeat Ancient Coffin alone; defeating it warps you back to the Gatekeeper.

Speak to him after the trial. He declares you have proven yourself worthy and names you a guardian.

When you are done in the hidden hall, ask the guard to warp you back out to either Prontera or Niflheim.

Notes
Progress is stored on an account-wide variable, so every character on the account shares a single run and the quest can only be finished once - afterwards the Gatekeeper answers that you are either not eligible or have already taken the test. The arena admits only one player at a time; while someone is being tested, everyone else is told to come back in five minutes. The Gatekeeper checks for exactly one Fin Helm, so carrying two or more makes him refuse to start the test. The Fin Helm is consumed the moment the test begins, so failing to kill Ancient Coffin inside the 10-minute limit means obtaining another one before retrying; if you die in the arena the Gatekeeper can warp you back in, but the countdown keeps running and time-out warps everyone out to Niflheim. Sara tells you to find a gatekeeper in the storage of the Niflheim tool shop, but the NPC standing there is the Mysterious Man, who only warps you to the real Gatekeeper. Both reply options in Gaea's thank-you dialogue lead to the same result, and his first shopping list prints the Angry Snarl without a quantity - exactly one is required.
